Catalina Island is a Must See

I recently spent some more time on Catalina Island.  It still is one of my favorite places to shed the stresses of working in downtown LA.  Just 22 miles off the mainland, it is close enough that all Californians should try to take advantage of having such a paradise so close by.  There is so much to do out there from hiking the interior to underwater activities.

This particular excursion was for some snorkeling at Casino Point.  The water is just so clear, and the fish are just so brightly colored that is impossible not to see an amazing underwater spectacle. This is one of my personal favorite when it comes to snorkeling in California.  I’m not the only one, as there are hundreds of companies that take snorkelers out there daily.  Despite the occasional crowd, the area is huge enough to really space out.  Shop around and pick a guide that takes fish food out there.  Those fish frenzies are a sight to behold.  Some guides will even draw certain marine life closer to the surface.  Always more incredible when you can say you were within tentacles length of an octopus.
